As of early February 2018 Alligator has entered into a Farm-in agreement to earn interest in a highly prospective nickel-cobalt opportunity in the Piedemont region of northwest Italy. The project sits within the historic Ivrea-Verbano mining district, with cobalt, nickel and copper mining taking place from the late 1800’s until the end of WWII.
The project represent a significant investor opportunity with virtually no modern exploration occurring across the prospect. A recent EM survey conducted during 2015 by Nyota Minerals, which was the first of its kind in the region has remained unprocessed until now, highlighting a stand out anomaly proximal to historic workings and lies completely untested. Further less defined targets are also being progressed through further definition and processing of geophysics.
Mineralisation in the area is of a sulfide nature typically preferred for processing and has historic records of a high cobalt to nickel ratios, highlighting a fantastic target with current market demands for energy metals. Additionally the project is located approximately 100km from Milan with railway and sealed roads within the project area. Existing sealed roads are in fact located less than 3km from the main EM target and permits are already in place to allow rapid evaluation.
